Import Amplitude Events
Overview
The Amplitude integration lets you pull product usage events directly into Evident for enrichment — no manual CSV export required. Evident reads IP addresses from your Amplitude events and enriches them with company data automatically.
Two modes are available:
- Automatic daily sync — Evident fetches the previous day’s events at 03:00 UTC, enriches the IPs, and updates the Accounts dashboard.
- Manual import — trigger an on-demand import for any custom date and time range.
Prerequisites
Before configuring the integration, collect the following from your Amplitude account:
- Amplitude API key
- Amplitude secret key
You can find both in Amplitude under Settings → Projects → [your project] → General.
Set up the Amplitude integration
The Amplitude integration is configured in a 3-step wizard. To open it, go to Settings → Integrations → Amplitude in Evident.
Step 1: Connect
Enter your Amplitude credentials:
- API key — paste the API key from your Amplitude project.
- Secret key — paste the corresponding secret key.
- Data center — select your Amplitude data center:
- Standard (US) — for Amplitude projects on the US region
- EU residency — for Amplitude projects on the EU region
Click Continue to validate the credentials. If the connection fails, verify that the API key and secret key belong to the same Amplitude project and that the correct data center is selected.
Step 2: Select events
Choose which Amplitude events to enrich:
- Enter event names as comma-separated values, e.g.
Dashboard Viewed, Export Started, Plan Upgraded - Use
*to enrich all events
Narrowing the event list reduces quota consumption and focuses intent signals on the moments that matter to your team. A common starting point is one or two key activation or adoption events.
Step 3: Import mode
Select how Evident should fetch your Amplitude data:
Automatic daily sync Evident runs automatically at 03:00 UTC every day, fetching the previous day’s matching events, deduplicating IPs, and starting an enrichment job. No manual action required after initial setup.
Manual import Use the date and time pickers to specify a custom start and end datetime. Click Start import to trigger the enrichment job immediately. You can run manual imports as often as you like within your quota.
How the sync works
For each run (automatic or manual), Evident:
- Fetches events from Amplitude matching your selected event list and time window.
- Extracts unique IP addresses from the event data.
- Checks whether accounts have already been tracked this billing month — previously seen accounts are not counted again toward your limit.
- Enriches the remaining IPs and writes results to the Data page.
- Updates the Accounts dashboard with the new company data.
Troubleshooting
Monthly account limit exceeded
If your Amplitude sync identifies more unique company accounts than your plan’s monthly limit, you will see a “Daily IP quota exceeded” error on the Data page. Options:
- Use a shorter time window for a manual import (e.g., a single hour instead of a full day) to reduce the number of accounts identified per run.
- Narrow your event list to higher-value events to reduce the scope.
- Upgrade your plan to a higher monthly limit.
Job stuck in the queue
Paid plans have queue priority. On a free plan you may need to wait for processing capacity. If a job has been queued for more than 24 hours, contact support.
Amplitude connection error
If Evident reports a connection error after saving credentials:
- Verify the API key and secret key are correct and belong to the same Amplitude project.
- Check that the Amplitude project is active and the API key has not been rotated.
- Confirm you selected the correct data center (Standard US vs EU residency).
